I started the year by doing something I love…getting outside to experience and appreciate nature! Had to wait a day due to rain falling on the first day of the year. When we did get out on the trail it was a cool, overcast day. However, the trails were full of others who also had the urge to take advantage of our peak hiking season. We encountered locals who had never ventured to the mountain (although they were born and raised here!) and others who were visiting from different places.
Regardless of where they were from, all had smiles on their faces and were glad to be out there. Young, old, black, white, Native, Asian, wealthy, middle-class or poor, we were all there enjoying the same space…free of politics and other pressing social matters. It was nice, very nice.
